About

Saint Fiachra’s Senior National School first opened its doors on July 1st, 1978. Mr. Jim Kilty was the school’s first Principal, with Mr. Tom Barrett as Deputy Principal. The original teaching staff also included Mr. Tom Carey, Ms. Brid Gleeson and Ms. Maura Tansey.

From these humble beginnings - five teachers catering to 152 children - we have grown into a vibrant school community with 36 teachers and 5 special needs assistants, now educating 630 pupils from 3rd to 6th class.

Our pupils come primarily from the greater Beaumont area and many have roots in countries far beyond Ireland. Due to our close proximity to Beaumont Hospital, we are also proud to welcome the children of hospital staff. We deeply value the diverse backgrounds and enriching contributions all our pupils bring to the life of our school.

We are committed to providing a learning environment that is free from discrimination, bullying and harassment - for both pupils and staff. We nurture each person’s self-worth and dignity and work consistently to recognise and develop every individual’s unique strengths, talents and potential.
